Stained Glass Window Restoration Following Vandalism (March, 2009)

On March 8, 2009, vandals broke the stained glass window in the Usher Room behind the baptistry in the church. This window was the stained glass window used in the chancel of the church building prior to the current building (the second All Saints Church building) as you can see in the photo at the bottom. Judson Studios of Los Angeles, which originally made the window, restored it to its original beauty.

Tower and Roof Repairs (2007)

Stained Glass Window Repair (2007)

The window, given by Mrs. John S. Cravens in memory of her mother, Mary Buchanan Myers in 1902, was made by Maitland Armstrong. The three large windows as well as the upper rosettes were repaired by Judson Studios, the same family-owned business which created so many of our beautiful windows. The “St. John” window in the stairway to the Myers Stained Glass Window Repaircolumbarium (south tower) was also repaired. In addition, the masonry around and separating the windows will be cleaned, and broken  cracked elements were repaired, regrouted and waterproofed, as will some of the stone work on the reredoes in front of the chancel window. These repairs were made because the window had become a safety issue, as it had become loose in its setting.

The window was re-installed in the chancel after re-leading and working on the tracery stone - and cleaning decades of soot, inside and out, off of the radiantly colored glass and restoring it to its original brilliance. Thanks to Lonnie Shield, our Buildings & Grounds Chair, for steering this project.
