The life of an acolyte is one of service. Service to All Saints. Service to the community. Service to God. Sixth through twelfth graders have the unique and exciting opportunity to participate all year long in this wonderful ministry. Acolytes are divided into teams and assist during the church services. Volunteers are also needed to act as coordinators for each team. This ministry is an opportunity to learn about the Anglican tradition, serve others, work within a team, meet new friends, and have fun doing it all. Training takes place in early September and will be available throughout the year for newcomers.

All Saints Church Foster Care Project provides community education, public policy/advocacy and direct services for children and youth who have been removed from the care of their parents to the supervision of the state. The Project recruits and sustains volunteers who serve in public and private agencies or work on special projects designed to enhance the lives of foster, homeless, transitional and incarcerated children and youth.  Volunteer opportunities include: volunteering with one of these agencies as a tutor or mentor; taking a foster child shopping for school clothes; collecting food and shopping for Thanksgiving baskets for foster families; becoming a member of the Birthday Club and sending a card and gift to a young person whose birthday would go uncelebrated; joining with local government officials and community agencies in changing ineffective social service systems. The Foster Care Project has representatives from eight ministries: Children, Youth and Families, COLORS, GALAS, Men's Council, Parish Council, Prison Ministry, Transformational Journeys and Women Council and from the community. The Steering Committee meets the third Sunday of each month at 12:45 p.m.

The Minisingers (kindergarten and first grade), Mastersingers (second and third grade), Troubadours (fourth and fifth grade) and Trouvères (middle school and high school) offer a supportive and joyful environment where young people are inspired and challenged to experience the healing power of choral singing and artistic excellence as an expression of beauty, human emotion and as an act of worship to God. The choirs rehearse weekly (September through June), sing regularly in Sunday liturgy and offer special musical programs and concerts.

This eight-month confirmation class is designed specifically for those in high school who are interested in learning about the Episcopal tradition, growing in faith, and discovering and sharing that journey of faith with others. The youth in this program have an opportunity to hear notable speakers share their stories as they create strong  bonds with other Seekers through overnight retreats, projects, and discussions. The class is an exploration of what it means to be members of a faith community. Each Seeker in the class has a Faith Partner—an adult All Saints member—who will share that experience with them. Volunteers are needed to be Faith Partners.

SUNDAY SCHOOL: ELEMENTARY

Jobi Harrell 626.583.2763
jharrell@allsaints-pas.org

During the 10:15 a.m. education hour, children in kindergarten through fifth grade are divided into age-appropriate classes to encounter the Bible, our Episcopal traditions and our story as a people of God. The curriculum we use is Godly Play, a Montessori-based program of Christian formation and an interactive way for the children to learn Bible stories, our traditions, and how they fit into the larger story of God's people. The fourth and fifth grade classroom offers special Bible study, projects for the kids to work on together, guest speakers and more in-depth work in a number of areas in order to deepen their learning and their faith.

Inward journey. Outward service. Intergrowth.

The Youth Ministry at All Saints Church exists to serve youth by creating safe, nurturing environment in which to explore issues of faith. By challenging them to be in community with one another and integrating social justice with spiritual formation, they are empowered to make the world a better place. Youth Ministry programs include:

The Journey gets bumpy at times . . . Sundays at 10:15 a.m. we get together, share a doughnut or two, and explore what it means to be a Christian. We focus on faith and doubt, the Bible, the Episcopal Church, current events, and the peace and justice issues facing our community. Volunteers are needed to help facilitate.
Wednesday Nights The youth gather on Wednesday nights at 6:30 p.m. for dinner and then more into the program from 7-8:30 p.m. During this time, we have conversations about faith and issues affecting our lives, we get involved with our community by engaging in service projects, and we have fun hanging out with friends. Jr. and Sr. High typically meet in separate areas for discussions. Volunteers are needed to facilitate discussions and offer support to the youth in this ever-growing ministry.
Small Groups allow the youth to: talk intimately about life challenges and what it means to  be in relationship with God, fellowship with one another, pray for one another, eat Redvines together, ice-skate together . . . whatever—together. There are several small groups guided by adult leaders at various homes throughout the week. Small groups begin early October and continue through May. We are in need of leaders to facilitate the groups and people who will volunteer to open their homes to host them.
Outreach Throughout the year, the youth help with various outreach projects such as: Union Station, Bad Weather Shelter and 30 Hour Famine. Volunteers are needed as chaperones and to help with transportation needs.
