CHILDREN
ADOPTION SUPPORT NETWORK The goal of the Adoption Support Group is to support adoptive parents who can combine experiences and information to strengthen families. This year we are working to strengthen the connections and networking between families.
BAPTISMS Baptisms for children are celebrated at Sunday services five times a year. Families should be members of All Saints. Instruction is required for parents and godparents. Adults are baptized at the end of the Covenant I, including the Easter Vigil.
CHILD CARE We provide child care every Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for children from birth to age four in Scott Hall, which during the week is known as All Saints Children’s Center. Children from birth to eleven months are in Room 1, where you will also find Ana Maria Montanez, the Child Care Coordinator. Children who are one year old in mid-September are in Room 2, two year olds are in Room 3, three year olds are in Room 4, and 4 year olds are in Room 5. We are blessed to have a staff of dedicated professionals with kind hearts who care for our children. The names of the caregivers and Sunday School teachers in each room are listed on the parent page which will be given to you as you leave each week. The parent pages will also provide information about the weekly story/lesson and suggestions for faith formation in the home. All Saints provides professional child care while parents and caregivers attend worship, meetings and events on campus. On Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday evenings from September through May, child care is available for children from infancy through fifth grade by calling 626. 583.2781 at least 24 hours in advance. No reservations are needed for Sunday mornings.
CHILDREN'S CHAPEL
EPILEPSY SUPPORT GROUP FOR PARENTS OF CHILDREN WITH EPILEPSY This support group serves the parents of children with epilepsy in the San Gabriel Valley area. The goal is to provide a forum in which parents can receive helpful information from guest speakers and other parents dealing with the same issues. The group meets the third Sunday of each month from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in Scott Hall.
All Saints Church Foster Care Project provides community education, public policy/advocacy and direct services for children and youth who have been removed from the care of their parents to the supervision of the state. The Project recruits and sustains volunteers who serve in public and private agencies or work on special projects designed to enhance the lives of foster, homeless, transitional and incarcerated children and youth. Volunteer opportunities include: volunteering with one of these agencies as a tutor or mentor; taking a foster child shopping for school clothes; collecting food and shopping for Thanksgiving baskets for foster families; becoming a member of the Birthday Club and sending a card and gift to a young person whose birthday would go uncelebrated; joining with local government officials and community agencies in changing ineffective social service systems. The Foster Care Project has representatives from eight ministries: Children, Youth and Families, COLORS, GALAS, Men's Council, Parish Council, Prison Ministry, Transformational Journeys and Women Council and from the community. The Steering Committee meets the third Sunday of each month at 12:45 p.m.
GOD, MY PARENTS AND ME
God, My Parents and Me supports the challenging work of parenting by offering spiritual fellowship and emotional nurturing to parents at All Saints Church and in the community at large. Meetings are held Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 12 noon in the Guild Room. Child care is provided.
HILLSIDES FAMILY CENTER (AFFILIATE)
MUSIC: CHILDREN'S AND YOUTH CHOIRS The choir program provides an inclusive and spiritually nurturing community for children and youth from diverse backgrounds. The Minisingers (kindergarten and first grade), Mastersingers (second and third grade), Troubadours (fourth and fifth grade) and Trouvères (middle school and high school) offer a supportive and joyful environment where young people are inspired and challenged to experience the healing power of choral singing and artistic excellence as an expression of beauty, human emotion and as an act of worship to God. The choirs rehearse weekly (September through June), sing regularly in Sunday liturgy and offer special musical programs and concerts.
SUNDAY SCHOOL: ELEMENTARY During the 10:15 a.m. education hour, children in kindergarten through fifth grade are divided into age-appropriate classes to encounter the Bible, our Episcopal traditions and our story as a people of God. The curriculum we use is Godly Play, a Montessori-based program of Christian formation and an interactive way for the children to learn Bible stories, our traditions, and how they fit into the larger story of God's people. The fourth and fifth grade classroom offers special Bible study, projects for the kids to work on together, guest speakers and more in-depth work in a number of areas in order to deepen their learning and their faith.
SUNDAY SCHOOL: PRESCHOOL
SUNDAY MORNING SCHEDULE 9:15 and 11:30 a.m. each classroom has story time, art time and snack. During the service, we welcome parents to come and take their children to Communion. If you wish to take your child to Communion, the best time to come and get them is at the Peace. 10:15 a.m. every Sunday that adult education is offered, excluding holiday weekends, children in Rooms 3, 4, and 5 have Sunday School, taught by wonderful and dedicated volunteers. Sunday School concludes with a brief worship service from 10:45 to 11 a.m. During this service, children will receive Communion. Parents are welcome to join us for worship! Please check the Sunday School calendar for specific information such as themes and dates for each classroom.
