Global AIDS Interfaith Alliance (GAIA) is a non-sectarian, San Francisco-based non-profit organization founded in June 2000, by physicians, nurses and religious leaders to respond to the accelerating AIDS pandemic in sub-Saharan Africa. GAIA partners with village-level religious leaders and organizations in rural areas to prevent the spread of HIV and to care for people living with AIDS. They assist communities in developing locally initiated grassroots projects focused on AIDS prevention and care.
