Sabbath Day: Friday
Sharalyn Hamilton joined All Saints as Director of Stewardship in February of 2008. She is an ordained United Methodist Minister (elder) and member of the California Nevada Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. Sharalyn has served as pastor for churches in San Ramon and Santa Clarita. She has also worked in nonprofit administration and development. Sharalyn received her Master of Divinity from Pacific School of Religion a member of the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley.
Before moving to California Sharalyn lived in Tennessee, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio. She was born and raised in Radnor, Ohio, a Welsh, farming village and loves to share those small town stories. She was a 4-H member, entered cooking and sewing in the county fair then earned a B. S. in Home Economics from The Ohio State University. While she rarely cooks these days, she still claims to bake homemade pies on special occasions. Sharalyn was raised in a theological debate between her mother who was the organist at the Baptist church and her father who’s family were Methodists. As a young girl she chose Methodism because it had an inclusive communion not offered in the Baptist church. Today she advocates for full inclusion in the UMC and is proud to join All Saints Church with its heritage of inclusiveness, commitment to multiculturalism and peace and justice.
“I have lived a life of advocacy: for racial equality and inclusion in high school, for breastfeeding through La Leche League, International in Memphis, Tennessee; for women’s reproductive health and alternatives in childbirth in Owensboro, Kentucky; for a parent’s right to home school children and eventually for the Progressive Christian movement and inclusive theology. It is my privilege to join the amazing mission and ministry of All Saints Church and to advocate for generosity that supports the mission and spirituality of our community.”
Sharalyn is the mother of three adult children. Audra is 26 and manages a dentist’s office in Walnut Creek. Jacob is 22 and in his senior year at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Leah is 20 and is studying at FIDM in Los Angeles. Sharalyn and Leah live in Valencia with their golden retriever, Gus, and Brittany Spaniel, Ginger.
