Small groups provide opportunities to gather regularly, build community and discuss issues of life and faith. Whether ongoing or for a defined period of time, small groups create an environment in which to learn and live out the church’s core values of spirituality, community, and peace and justice.
Small groups provide an opportunity for members of All Saints to gather weekly to discuss issues of faith and life in a prayerful and reflective atmosphere, and to have fellowship with others on a more intimate basis than is possible in our large Sunday morning celebrations.
Many small groups meet for six to eight weeks around a particular topic, often reading and discussing a book together. Other groups meet on a regular and on-going basis.
New small groups are announced on the website, in our parish newsletter, Saints Alive, and at the small group ministry table on the lawn on Sundays. Some groups require pre-registration and are limited in size to eight to ten people, including a trained leader who facilitates the discussion. Most groups meet on weeknights; a few meet on Sundays or weekday mornings. Most groups meet at the church. Others are hosted by parishioners in their homes.
Small groups are integral parts of the Exploring Membership Class (for those considering membership at All Saints), the Adult Confirmation Class, and of our programs for Peace and Justice and Adult Education. Small groups are also vital to our Pastoral Care ministry which offers groups to support those in such life situations as adoption, divorce or grief and those living with chronic illnesses such as diabetes and myasthenia gravis.
You do not have to be a member of All Saints Church to join a small group. For those seeking to find out more about All Saints and to try a small group experience, we recommend the Exploring Membership Class (call the Incorporation & Growth assistant at 626.583.2744 for more information). Please see below for a list of ongoing groups which are open to new members or visitors.
