From the Rector's Forum, 10:15 a.m. "A Fresh Passion"
with Peter Sellars
The ever-innovative Peter Sellars gave new life to our understanding of ancient texts in his staging of The Gospel According to the Other Mary by John Adams. With an imaginative reworking of the text, Sellars, along with Gustavo Dudamel, Grant Gershon, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Los Angeles Master Chorale produced a deeply moving story of the resurrection through the eyes of the women who were at the foot of Jesus’ cross on Friday and stood at the open tomb on resurrection morning. At the Rector’s Forum he will explore the creative power of passion in poetry, movement and music—as well as the need for the gospel accounts to be deepened, extended, and re-imagined in our own lives.
